Drywall Installation and Hanger Jobs Profile
Almost
all walls are made of drywall which was at one
time put up by the drywall installer, or wallboard
hanger. Who day in and day out works with wallboard,
plasterboard and drywall.
Drwall installation is interior work and that
doesn't much change with weather, even through
winter months unless construction slows.
They have a working knowledge of gypsum
fire ratings, moisture resistances, drywall
thicknesses and many material specifications.
Installers are an skilled in the reading of blueprints,
and must figure the layout of sheets, including
postioning and
attachment/fasteners
and this includes the use of nails, screws and
setting boards with glue. They set reference lines,
works with cut out tools,
scaffolding and hoists like to install
drywall on ceiling areas, which may have its own requirements.
Installers typically work with metal studs and
wood studs, either residential or commercial,
though these two applications does segment the
skills of many hangars since these require different
installation procedures.
Installers must be familiar with safety precautions
since this can be a hazardous task.
Usually, with at least 2-3 years of verifiable experience is
required. As is drug testing, a valid drivers
license a transportation. Training is normally
acquired on the job and at vocational/technical
institutions. With a rate of pay that can be
per the sheet, typcial
of many contractors, or by the hour, more the
company norm.
Hanging drywall is a strenuous profession and
it too has exposure to gypsum dust, though none
that nears the finisher. And
hours worked may exceed the 49 hour work week
since the drywall contactor is among the final
trades with pressure for completion.
