Granite Fabrication Profile
Companies with granite fabricator
positions look for skills to form the the countertops
from slab to finished counter surface.
The work is dependent on new construction however remodeling
projects are a large portion of the business. Which
continues 12 months thoughout the year. Fabrication
workers typically work indoors in the shop with occasional
visits
to the
job site.
Fabricators translate the measurements from the onsite
layout made from the field. They
have experience operating fabricating equipment, wet
saws, grinders and polishing devices. Experience working
stones like granite and marble and
countertops like solid surface materials is almost always
preferred. At least 2-3 years.
They must have strengths reading drawings, be detail
oriented, and have good vision. Inspecting the processed
stone to mark completion. Fabricators might need to
be able to run a forklift for maneuvering
the
stone
around
the shop.
The fabricators prepare the granite for the installers to
place the countertop in its permanent setting.
Essential is the ability to lift heavy loads, and take
safety precautions. A high exposure to vibration and
noise levels is common.
Hours can vary with projects in the pipeline and hourly
wages start as low as around $10.00 to $11.00 per hour.
